Why hire a web designer?

There are so many website services out there that make building a website so easy! Why would you hire a web designer when you could build a free or inexpensive site yourself?

Experience

Web designers know what works when it comes to creating a website that will draw in potential customers.

They also know what doesn’t work and will save you the headache of wasting valuable time.

I have 7 years of experience with websites and everything that goes with running one, I use that experience to give you a site that’ll give your business or blog a running start.

Web Designers leave you with one less thing to worry about

When you’re growing your business, the last thing you want to worry about is creating a professional website

Setting up a self-hosted website can be daunting. I’ll do all the hard work for you so that you can focus on your brand.

Maintenance services are also available for those who want to be completely hands off or who don’t want to worry about running updates or adding details and elements as needed.

What is the difference between Hosted and Self-Hosted Platforms?

Hosted

Hosted platforms such as Squarespace, Weebly, WordPress.com, Blogger, and Wix use their own servers. This means you can use them for free with their free services or pay for premium options and add ons. Your website will only be accessible through their platform, meaning if you outgrow it, it’ll be more difficult to switch your site to a new platform. It can be done, but it’s a bit of a pain.

Through these services you’ll receive a free subdomain i.e yourblog.weebly.com to use a custom domain i.e yourblog.com you’ll have to pay for their premium services. Blogger being the exception.

Hosted platforms are also limited with the customization of your site which is why businesses and bloggers outgrow the platform and often spend money on premium options or switch to a self-hosted platform down the line.

Self-Hosted

Self-hosted platforms like WordPress.org are hosted on a server of your choice and can be migrated to other hosting servers if needed. You are in complete control over your site and won’t have to pay for a new plan to add eCommerce capabilities or additional customization options.

You will, however, need to purchase a custom domain name along with hosting in order to set up your website. These are yearly payments.

Yes, self-hosted platforms cost more upfront, but the possibilities for your website are endless.

My web design services use self-hosted WordPress. I take care of all the set up so you’ll have a working website that will work for you for years to come.
