Why hire a web designer?

There are so many website services out there that make building a website so easy! Why would you hire a web designer when you could build a free or inexpensive site yourself?

The thing about free or inexpensive DIY website services is that most of them aren’t equipped to grow with your business. This means that as your business or blog grows, you’ll need to upgrade your plan to accommodate your needs or dump your current service and move to another service that can handle your growth.

This is not only time consuming but it’s costly and brings on a lot of headaches.

While it’s true that you can easily build your own site, hiring a web designer comes with many advantages.

Experience

Web designers know what works when it comes to creating a website that will draw in potential customers.

They also know what doesn’t work and will save you the headache of wasting valuable time.

I have 7 years of experience with websites and everything that goes with running one.

They leave you with one less thing to worry about

When you’re growing your business, the last thing you want to worry about is creating a professional website

Setting up a self-hosted website can be daunting. I’ll do all the hard work for you so that you can focus on your brand.

Maintenance services are also available for those who want to be completely hands off or who don’t want to worry about running updates or adding details and elements as needed.

What is the difference between Hosted and Self-Hosted Platforms?

Hosted

Hosted platforms such as Squarespace, Weebly, WordPress.com, blogger, and Wix use their own servers, meaning you can use them for free with their paid or free services. Your website will only be accessible through their platform.

Through these services you’ll receive a free subdomain i.e yourblog.weebly.com to use a custom domain i.e yourblog.com you’ll have to pay for their premium service. Blogger being the exception.

Hosted platforms are also limited with the customization of your site which is why businesses and bloggers outgrow the platform and often spend more or switch to a self-hosted platform down the line.

Self-Hosted

Self-hosted platforms like WordPress.org are hosted on a server of your choice and can be migrated to other hosting servers if needed. You are in complete control over your site and won’t have to pay for a new plan to add eCommerce capabilities or additional customization options.

You will, however, need to purchase a custom domain name along with hosting in order to set up your website.

Yes, self-hosted platforms cost more upfront, but the possibilities for your website are endless.

My web design services use self-hosted WordPress. I take care of all the set up so you have a working website that will work for you for years to come.
